Educational Enrichment, Specialists & Supplies

Thanks to your generous donations, Sycamore Canyon PTSA is proud to fund the following specialists for our students as well as a variety of other programming.

  • Jeanne has a B.A. in Studio Art and Art History. She has been teaching art privately and with PTA supported art programs for 20 years here in California. Jeanne is developing a program based on grade-level classroom curriculum and the California Visual and Performing Arts Standards for Public School.

Her philosophy is "Just as in learning to play an instrument not every child will become a maestro or a fabulous artist, but they can learn the basic skills to bring beauty, and artistic expression into their lives'".

  • Craig Newton has joined Sycamore Canyon as our Music Specialist for TK - K! The kids are loving their time learning and making music again!!

  • Elementary students receive physical education instruction from Ms. Nichols and Mr. I every week. They exercise and learn a variety of different sports depending on the season.

  • Sarah Newton is our STEAM Lab instructor. She is a credentialed elementary school teacher with over 10 years of experience. Students have classes weekly in the STEAM Lab. Some lessons that have been taught: playing with polymers, building a floating raft, constructing a space capsule, designing a LEGO marble maze. Ask your child(ren) about the STEAM Lab activities!

Sarah enjoys guiding the students through the Engineering Design Process with hand on lessons in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math.

The first Monday of the month, STEAM Lab is open for students to come explore during lunch recess. Students can build on the LEGO wall, play games and build with a variety of exploration kits.
